KKR and Teachers’ Venture Growth Lead $140 Million Series E Funding Round for SmartHR
KKR and Teachers’ Venture Growth (TVG) have jointly led a $140 million Series E funding round for SmartHR, a leading cloudnative human resources management platform in Japan. SmartHR, founded in 2013, offers techenabled HR solutions focusing on employee management, growth, talent management, and productivity for businesses of all sizes, including large enterprises and SMEs.
The investment will be utilized to accelerate SmartHRs growth by developing new solutions, talent acquisition, and implementing organic and inorganic growth strategies. Mukul Chawla, Partner and Head of Growth Equity, Asia Pacific at KKR, highlighted SmartHRs role in enhancing workforce productivity and digitalization in Japan. Olivia Steedman, Executive Managing Director and Global Head at Teachers’ Venture Growth, expressed enthusiasm in supporting SmartHRs growth journey and leveraging their global expertise.
KKRs investment is part of its Asia Next Generation Technology (Asia NGT) strategy, with a focus on technology investments in Japan. SmartHRs Series E funding round also saw participation from existing shareholders.
